Marshall Nack of Positive Feedback visits our US distributor GTT Audio and has a good time listening to the LS1's. He is amazed by the system's compactness, without any additional components needed. And he is pleasantly surprised by the sound quality.

LS1: For Head and Heart2013, November 29

German half-yearly AUDIOphile magazine praises the LS1 for its outstanding naturalness. "These speakers are neither charming nor flattering, but honest and pure.", Editor Wolfram Eifert writes. "With their fully active LS1 Grimm Audio throws many familiar conventions overboard and achieves a superb signal fidelity by means of switching amplifiers and DSP-controlled crossovers. User comfort and neutrality are on world-class level."

Dimitris Stamatakos of the Greek blog AVMentor published a rave review about the LS1. Dimitris: "The LS1 is a real reference speaker, thumbs-up for Grimm Audio! I must say I am delighted to review a system that addresses some of the classic problems in the design of loudspeakers and succeeds dramatically. I also admire the courage of the Grimm Audio people to see (rather than shun away from) one of the big problems of high fidelity: the necessary combination of precision and a pleasant presentation (or the lack of a 'sound' of its own if you prefer), composing a solution that is evidently highly effective. The LS1 suggests a way to escape the speaker industries' permanent state of navel-gazing and take steps forward. This is a speaker that sets a reference level and everybody should hear it, regardless of whether he intends to buy it or not !"

New Website2013, November 3

Welcome to our new website! After many months of work (and even starting all over again from scratch), we are very proud to present you the results of a collaboration between graphical designer Laura Visser, web site developer Jan Borger and Eelco Grimm. The web site is modernised and it is now based upon a CMS that offers for instance context sensitive content like news and quotes. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Richard Tomanek from Czech Republic has become our sales manager for Eastern Europe and Middle East. Richard worked as jurist and manager of various firms but he could not resist the call of music. In 1998 he founded the High End Boutique for pro audio and hifi distribution in Czech Republic. He joins Grimm Audio to pioneer our sales in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

We are totally thrilled to team up with GTT Audio & Video as our new US HiFi consumer product distributor. GTT is a well established and competent company that has a solid name in the US audio world. Bill Parish and his team will take care of the USA and Canada consumer market for us.

Cloud TV broadcasting company Veset now offers an EBU R128 loudness normalisation solution to its customers, powered by our LevelShow application. Veset is very happy with our software and support and writes in a blog: "with Grimm Audio LevelShow integrated in our Cloud Playout solutions, audio normalization seems like a non-issue anymore."

Another great LS1 review! Mastering engineer Nigel Palmer tested the LS1 for UK professional audio magazine Audio Media. He writes: "The clearest and least hyped presentation I’ve heard. I had that feeling of an open window into sound, across a wide range of music styles." And also: "you’re left in no doubt as to what is and isn’t working in a mix".

The Munich High End show has been a huge success for us. To our surprise all 600 folders of the LS1 were already gone on the third day. Many listeners told us we had the ’best sound of the show’. Even German newspaper ’Die Welt’ wrote about us! Quote: "The system (...) is the equal of systems of hundred thousands of Euros when it comes to aspects like neutrality, purity and naturalness of tone."

"Sensation in the measurement and listening room" states the largests German hifi magazine, ’AUDIO’ on the cover page. Their measurement paragraph concludes: "The LS1 shows an excellent time and frequency response that rather reminds of electronic circuits and not of speakers". The graphs show an exemplary waterfall and step response. "The midrange shows almost no distortion even at 100 dB SPL. There is no compression at 100 dB". Editor in chief Bernhard Rietschel wrote: "Their natural sound and their unimposing, deep trueness kept overwhelming me and my colleagues". The article concludes: "The LS1 is by far the best speaker that AUDIO had the pleasure of reviewing in over 35 years; this especially in the two crucial audiophile disciplines of neutrality and detail reproduction."
