The online High End magazine Sound Stage Ultra published a very positive LS1 review and marked it "Reviewers Choice". Author Robert Jorgensen enjoyed his days with our product very much, playing a wide range of music styles. We were delighted with his conclusion since he recognized our main goal when we designed the LS1. He writes: "These days, I find it less and less interesting to try various components in my system; I much prefer to listen to music. Other audiophiles, to stay happy, need something to fiddle with all the time; this is not the system for them. The Grimm Audio LS1-LS1s let me get down to excellent listening for a good long time with no fiddling whatsoever. That's my kind of speaker system. You do need a good source and a room whose acoustics have been properly addressed. But that's it."

LS1 textbook example2014, September 9

Koen Terra of the University of Applied Science in Utrecht asked us if he was allowed to use the LS1 as an example of great design to teach his students about hand sketching. Of course we were honoured with his request and offered all cooperation. So now the LS1 takes centre stage in the 'Roundings' chapter of the new textbook "Basic Blocks for Hand Sketching" of Koen Terra, with beautiful hand drawn pictures...

The Netherlands' leading online hifi magazine, hifi.nl, published a review by René van Es, who was fascinated by the fact that the LS1 is so different from any other system he auditioned. His verdict is: "A system that belongs to the current top class of high end audio, at a very reasonable price in relation to the quality. A system with such low distortion and such high neutrality that you may probably have to get used to it."

Peter Breuninger of AV Showrooms did an interview with our US distributor Bill Parish during the Axpona show in Chicago. Bill introduces the LS1 to the viewer in his typical cheerful way. A couple of weeks later Peter interviewed Bruno Putzeys at the Newport Beach show. Bruno informs him about some backgrounds of the LS1 design. Both videos are well worth a view!

We took some nice 'living room setting' pictures of the LS1 in a beautiful villa in Eindhoven. These will mainly be used for press promotion via our hi-res pictures page, but please don't hesitate to take a look...

Our Dealer of the Year award 2014 goes to... Berlin dealer Max Schlundt of Kultur Technik! In the picture you see Max who just received the award (a 3D printed LS1 model) out of the hands of Grimm Audio's Christian Reichardt, during our 10th anniversary celebration event at the High End Munich show. Congratulations Max!

Scott Hull was 'bedeviled' by the LS1 during the Axpona high end show in Chicago and wrote a catching review about it. "I got to hear lots of different kinds of music. Overall, the sound was nuanced, powerful, and extremely detailed — this Grimm system managed to do a whole lot of things extraordinarily well. (...) Frankly, I’m amazed at how much tech got crammed into those two cabinets. (...) If you’ve got space concerns — or clutter concerns — but cannot be asked to sacrifice audio quality, this Grimm may have your name all over it."

The German AUDIO magazine has awarded the LS1 with "best innovation prize 2014". We are very honoured with this trophy. The beautifully crafted glass piece is in-scripted with the following text: "For the fully digital, fully active, well-timed, and also marvelously good sounding loudspeaker LS1." A real boost to us!

We are very pleased to announce that the LS1 playback functionality has been upgraded with DSD and DXD capabilities. All LS1i (USB Interfaces) that will be shipping from now on will have a DSD 64fs and DSD 128fs playback function. Playback of PCM files at 24bit/384kHz ("DXD") is also supported. Existing LS1 customers can update their LS1 USB interface themselves, please read the update instructions linked at the LS1 web page. Additional news is that the LS1 USB Interface can now be used with Windows 8 and Linux. The USB Interface has also become more attractive and sturdy by using a metal case and an anodized stainless steel top cover.

The transport to Moscow's Hi-End Show in November was a big adventure for our Eastern Europe sales people Richard Tomanek and Alex Vanek, but the result was worth all the effort. The leading pcAudiophile.ru website wrote that the "unprecedented sound" of the Grimm Audio LS1 system was assigned as “The Best Sound of Moscow Audio & Hi End Show 2013”.

Ronald Wanders, hifi enthusiast, Zeewolde (TPM)

  • The LS1 is by far the best speaker that AUDIO had the pleasure of reviewing in over 35 years; this especially in the two crucial audiophile disciplines of neutrality and detail reproduction.

    Wolfram Eifert, AUDIO, Stuttgart (LS1)

  • The LS1 seems to be a melting pot for all your expertises. I just find it fascinating. I am quite certain that the LS1 is at least the very very best 'value' in the market right now.

  • You will have to go to great lengths to find something that matches this sound quality for the same price.

Roy Ervin Solstad, Stereo+, Oslo (LS1)

  • The sound stage renders almost holographic with a very high precision and spaciousness, as if there is no cable at all.

Harro Tillema, Alpha Audio, The Netherlands (TPR)

  • I love the speed, transparency and neutrality of this cable.

    Marnix Bosman, HVT, Nijmegen (TPM)
